Stunt Driving

A stunt driving charge, commonly referred to as “racing,” is most often issued when the driver of the motor vehicle has been caught travelling at 50 km or more above the posted speed limit.

Section 172 of the Highway Traffic Act in Ontario states that “No person shall drive a motor vehicle on a highway in a race or contest, while performing a stunt or on a bet or wager”.

  • Your car gets impounded for 7 days
  • your licence is automatically taken away.
  • If convicted, the minimum first-time fine for stunt driving is $2,000. That fine can go all the way up to $10,000. You could also end up with six months in jail and a 2 year licence suspension.
