Red Light – fail to stop

don't risk getting convicted

Every driver approaching a traffic control signal showing a circular red indication and facing the indication shall stop his or her vehicle and shall not proceed until a green indication is shown.

The penalty for failing to stop is a fine and 3 demerit points. If you fight the ticket and are convicted, the fine can be set between $200 and $1,000. A conviction for failing to stop at a red light or stop sign will remain on your record for 3 years.
